Substitution Reactions Explained:

When a functional group in a chemical compound is replaced with by another functional group, is what a substitution reaction is. Substitutions usually take place with aromatic compounds because, it would lose balance if it does not replace it’s lost atomic charge. Hydrogen is substituted to regain electrical and overall balance.
