A reaction in which the configuration of the product is dependent on the configuration of the starting material.

Stereospecific Explained:

The reaction depends on a particular the formation of the stereoisomer, if it develops carbon-carbon double bonds preferentially over the other it becomes stereoselective. Putting it in different terms, it becomes selective, choosing a specific stereoisomer.
