Polar Aprotic Solvent

Polar Aprotic Solvent Definition:

A solvent that lacks hydrogen atoms connected directly to an electronegative atom.

Polar Aprotic Solvent Explained:

Solvents susch as water, ethanol, and methanol have dielectric constants and high dipole moments. When hydrogen is bonded to an oxygen (hydroxyl group) or generally any solvent that contains H+ is said to be protic and reversely aprotic is not having hydrogen.
