Inversion of Configuration Definition:

During a reaction, when the configuration of a chirality center is changed.

Inversion of Configuration Explained:

If a net charge of a reaction is replaced with ligand chiral center within a reactant and the product is also replaced by ligand that is opposite to the one in the reactants. Then the reaction is what is known as an inversion, thus why its called inversion configuration.
