Vibrational Excitation

Vibrational Excitation Definition:

In IR spectroscopy, the energy of a photon is absorbed and temporarily stored as vibrational energy.

Vibrational Excitation Explained:

A vibration is excited when strong energy is absorbed by the molecule in its normal state. When two quanta are taken in the first overtone is excited, and it travels throughout the molecule. Vibrational excitation can happen in addition to electronic excitation in the ultraviolet-visible area.
