A compound that reacts with a diene in a Diels-Alder reaction.

Dienophile Explained:

An electrocyclic reaction between 4 pi electrons of diene and 2 pi electrons of the dienophile. The reaction then makes the formation of a new bond that is more energetically stable than the pi bonds.
